Obviously has some quirks, but all I can think of to say is "Wow - I really want that."
Just figured some of you guys would find it interesting.

Desktop effects. Like the screen wobble and menu formation shaping, transparency, etc,.

"Xgl is an X server architecture designed to take advantage of modern graphics cards via their OpenGL drivers." the ATi driver can't use AIGLX (which the nvidia driver can) so you need XGL for an ATi card.

Yeah, seen this some time ago, really cool none the less. I'll be working with touchscreens and rails this summer. Hopefully I can learn some neat programming tricks with them.
XGL is a modified Xorg server that makes use of Opengl, however; AIGLX has become more popular b/c it runs on top of your Xorg server basically.

LOL when he knocked that thing over
![]() The touchscreen idea is awesome. I like how he "pushed" the cube to rotate it to another virtual desktop. Reminds me of that Autodesk concept. This, to be exact: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet...&siteID=123112 And they say vista is the future? ![]() aero got pwnt... Again...

The new ATI driver will work with AiGlX (just not well). XGL is outdated and is being dumped (that's the real reason why ATI's adding AIGLX support in their driver). Personally, I prefer the open source 'radeon' driver, works perfectly on AIGLX and is only missing a few small things that ATI's helping to add.
It's Compiz that's doing all the work, though, and this video is a year and a half old. Sorry to be a downer... It would have been so much easier to drag the windows if he had held Alt on his keyboard...

AIGLX makes the arrows smear all over the screen while autoscrolling in Firefox...

If that's on ATI with fglrx, then, well, yeah, it has problems still.

The only problems fglrx has with Compiz + AIGLX at the moment is slow 2D, misc. errors with some window transformations, and no mipmaps on R6XX chips.
