Default trying to install ubuntu but getting odd problem

first problem

it didn't want to start anything just got some error "kernal panic" but that was caused by ram instability which solved itself by slowing down the ram

next problem

everything goes well but then while you see the ubuntu loading bar the screen starts flashing and it stops loading and will not conntinue installing

note this is not my sig rig

Spec:

AMD 3800+
genric ram 1gb
A8N-sli
Ati X1800xl

are you sure you downloaded the right one? 32bit/64bit. and, when you burnt the iso to the disc, were there any errors? try doing a check on the cd to find any - im pretty sure theres a feature on the ubuntu livecd that will do that lol. if there were errors, try reburning it but at a slower speed- that should clear it up.

Good luck,
- Flatliner

linuxmint is a fantastic os based on the *buntu's. i had steam/css/hl2 running next to perfectly without any hassles installing or anything. compiz was also really easy to set up on mint. same with my wireless

before wasting another disc, why not wait for hardy heron to come out?
