Edit: Can someone tell how to uninstall ubuntu or is it really complicated? I put it on my laptop which i am swapping for a different one, i want to uninstall it from that before it goes.

Of course i will be putting Ubuntu/Arch on my new one depending on how well i get on with arch after i try it on my desktop pc for a while. It was too scary to install it on my laptop, but i have a new HDD on the way which will suit a new distro nicely.
Not that difficult. I forget how exactly, but you can look at your partitions using the Windows install CD and delete them that way. Afterward just format the deleted partitions to NTFS and everything should work out.

Oh, thats going to be difficult because the laptop has no DVD drive, and my windows disc is a DVD. I got ubuntu onto there with an external CD drive...

Is there any other partition editor i could use?

Thanks for the reply though

You could just boot the ubuntu cd, then use gparted to delete the ubuntu partitions and format them ntfs. Afterwards, you could install grub as your bootloader for windows, although I don't know exactly how, but it is possible.

thanks for the help all. I found my own way round though, booted into an install with my XP CD, deleted the 2 partitions for ubuntu and reformatted them in vista.

Installed ubuntu on my new one allready, it's updating now. Only 234.8Mb of Updates. Including the .19 kernel too i believe.

I use SuSe mainly, but Fedora is also installed. Why? Because I couldn't find a better use for the hard disk space

Why not just have like 15 distros installed. It'll always be fun to look at your GRUB boot loader.

lol

I don't use GRUB though, I use Acronis. It has a whole HD management system built in, that lets you adjust partitions, hide partitions depending on which OS you boot to, scandisk, defrag, make images, backups, full wipes, and everything else you can think of. Its a very useful tool.
