how do i find out which hardrive my OS is on?

okay i have two identical hardrives with nothing on one and ubuntu and all my files on the other. i want to test a new HDD out and dont have enough power cords for antoher sata drive how do i figure out which is which?

Unplug one and see if your OS loads.
If it doesn't it's probably on the other drive.

okay got old 80gb out and now have a fresh free 200gb ready for teh pronz to be saved on!

#sudo fdisk -l
That should reveal the partition tables on all harddrives in your system... the one that has "nothing" should be clean...

You have 50/50 chance. Unplug one hd, then if your OS doesn't load, plug it back in and unplug the other.
