I have 2 hard drives.
1 IDE 200gb HD 1 SATAII 200gb HD The IDE Hard Drive has Linux The SATAII Hard Drive has Windows XP on it The SATAII Hard Drive is my primary booting one I want to get rid of Linux without it affecting my XP Hard Drive To be more precise, I want to format both hard drives so I can sell the IDE one, and reinstall XP on the other one. I also want to backup my Counter Strike files, along with some other big files so I don't have to redownload them. I have the hard drives as a dual boot situation How would I uninstall the GRUB Boot Loader, along with the Linux OS on my IDE drive without it affecting my SATAII Hard Drive? I'm using Linux 8.04

I have no clue what you are trying to do. You say you want to sell the ide but yet you want to use it still? All I can say is to right click the hd in my computer and select format.

If you're going to format both, what are you worried about? Go into windows, backup your CS files to a DVD or external HDD or something, then format the drives.
If you're going to format both drives, you're going to be "affecting your SATA II HDD" anyway.

If I'm reading right you should be able to have Windows install delete the partition information of the IDE drive and reformat it. You might be able to do it from inside of "My Computer" with a right click, assuming Windows can see the drive. If the SATA drive is already your primary you shouldn't have to reformat that one, just the IDE. But if you want a completely clean install then definitely back up your data and nuke 'em both.

What im asking is how do I uninstall Linux from the IDE Drive, so I can make backups of stuff from my SATAII Drive. I heard somewhere that GRUB installs on the primary, and that needs to be manually removed before I format the IDE drive, or it won't let me boot at all.

Yes GRUB is typically installed on your linux partition (unless you make a small partition for GRUB before you install, which I reccommend) so if you format your partition you will probably have to "repair" your MBR with a windows CD to get into windows again.

Use MBRfix, its a small utility that restores the MBR on windows. Before you format linux its best to get rid of GRUB first using MBRfix. Once you restore it you can then format the IDE partition
