So.. Ive tried becoming a full blown linux user.. meaning I would like to run COD4 + CS1.6 on Ubuntu. TOTAL FAIL. I hate the fact that linux has so many bugs. I will be going back to Windows XP to game... but will be dual booting Ubuntu. When Ubuntu + WINE becomes more stable with Windows Games... I will then become a full blown linux user... But for now. Full blown linux user?.... NOT.
yet

Linux is not Windows. If all you want to do is run Windows programs, surprise surprise, you're better off running Windows.

Linux is unstable? Perhaps you meant Windows games within WINE are unstable?

I gained 7 seconds compared to my Windows time). E) No viruses, spyware or malware to contend with, which means no AV software to eat up processor cycles and memory. F) Much more tweakable than Windows since it is open-source. G) Choice -- a lot of distros to choose from.

Yeah. Not being able to run Windows games on Linux is not a "bug".
Anyways, Linux is all kinds of awesome, specially if you like to thinker with stuff. I'm almost done with my "open source" build (the "scrapbox" on my sig rigs list). Just need to finish a few Prime runs and strap some fans on that pitiful S2 I got (hey, it was $10 ). Once all that is done I should be able to play some games. Already have Compiz running. Going to run PTS on it and see how it fairs (hopefully it doesn't blow up during the gaming tests).

Person that doesn't know what is Linux (probably Windows too) and want all his games miraculously to run and probably faster than in Windows. Did you know that these games are being emulated in Linux? Probably not. PS. Wine 1.0 with DX9 support was released half a month ago. I'd recommend you go to single boot with Windows and play your games at will ![]()

I just updated wine with the new Nv driver and my games wont even open, just crash.
Pretty homo. I do like the package managers most of all though, easy updates ftw.
