Make sure you have advanced (3rd party) drivers enabled

Also you might want to try meddling with compiz...always fun.

You need the graphics driver installed most likely.

In the terminal type these two commands and give us back the output.

glxinfo | grep direct

grep Driver /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Run `compiz` from a terminal and report back what it says.
Or use the `compiz-check` script (see here)

@everyone: Instead of posting random suggestions related to fixing a specific problem, why not actually try and figure out what the problem is first? Seriously.

You may need restricted drivers. If that is the case,go to System, Administration, Restricted drivers. And install them if you need them

Sweet, that's great

Depending on the graphics card you have, you can enable Compiz Fusion. That is done by the command
Code:
sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager
Once that is installed, it is easily accessible through the System, (Preferences or Administration), Advanced Desktop Effects

OR, you can access it by navigating to the Desktop effects area and clicking Custom/Advanced.
