I tried Ubuntu, and its not really working. I am changing distros and i want one that looks excellent straight off the bat. Something that is built for rigs that can handle it. Anyone got an idea?

I just installed Linux Mint on my old laptop and it looks pretty nice out of the box. I haven't adjusted any settings and it looks good and runs well.

I've always thought that Suse default setup looked nice.

I really like the tweaking that Novell did for KDE3 + 4, definitely a nice change. I think Byrl can do the different odd effects, like windows wobbling or burning when you move them, but those sorts of things are cool for 10 minutes, and then get annoying.

This is a very subjective question, but here are my favorites:
http://www.dreamlinux.com.br/ http://www.foresightlinux.org/ Dreamlinux is ~700MB, so don't worry about the download time. ![]() If you're looking for a poor man's Mac, Dreamlinux is what you want.

Find a Suse torrent, that will make the download faster.
