Downloaded and installed Ubuntu 8.04.1 last night. Instantly up and running, with a few small bugs.
1) When playing .avi files from my network, sound is really low and muffled. Edit - just installed Amarok and same issue. I have a 5.1 surround system and it's cranked almost to max and I can barely hear it. Edit #2 - Screwed around with the mixer controls and fixed that. 2) Inernet seems really slow. 3) How do I install the drivers for my 9600GT? This is all on my sig rig. A little more info: the M2N-X board is based on Nvidia Nforce 520.

Nvidia drivers should at least be in the Package Manager, I would think. Nvidia's website helps point you to their installation methods.
Is it 64-bit version or 32-bit?

64. I did see the Nvidia drivers in the package manager section, but there was a list of a bunch of them. Which should I install....all of them?

OK Envy doesn't like my card. It says that it doesn't recognize my card as compatible.
any other ways? I really would like to be able to use compiz if I can figure that out too.

Grab the driver and install as in my previous post - then goto beryl/compiz settings and you are good to go!

it should be there, unless you can go to system/admin/hardware drivers that also should work

Maybe try running Code:
sudo pppoeconf
