Why do the solutions seem so simple? I'll try this tomorrow when I get back to Ubuntu.
I'm surprised Wine works as well except for Windows Live installer. I bet if you people started making Windows 8 it'd be 3D out of a 2D monitor and would fit on a floppy or something.

I would never use Windows again if;
Ubuntu had same support for games as Windows and if
They made Ubuntu look less... bland. Maybe as an option or something.

Thanks Error10! Good stuff.

This thread reminds me when I was running SCO Linux and Xenix (that will date me), and spent six months working with the SCO kernel engineers to tune the systems for optimum performance... A good book came out of that adventure... Sar was my best friend for years. Now most kernels have dynamically tunable parameters.

You put together such a sweet workstation and then crippled it with XP?!?

Yeah, Xenix, that goes WAY back into the mists of prehistory. Though today's kernels ARE nice.

The # means a comment, to ignore whatever follows the # on that line. So don't use a #.

Hehe, Once I get my Striker Extreme system rebuilt (just got the memory and bios back), my sig rig gets the Quadro fx 3500 back and reverts back to my Linux workstation. Busy weekend for me...

One thing that always made me smile about booting Xenix, was the Microsoft copyright message...

You know that Xenix is STILL in use today? Blew me away, but there are very few Unix like systems that still fully support decent PASCAL compilers.

Really, I haven't seen a functioning Xenix box since about 1996 or so.

Which reminds me, who owns UNIX this week?
