A simple X-Fi driver doesn't isn't usually the reason why people don't switch. It's the hassle of getting it to work with all of your normal Windows Apps, or Alternative apps

i didnt say it was the only reason, it just people will moan that it requires some work, linux does not require work its just its DIFFERENT for example -: you config alot of things in windows without realising becuase you are used to it, its second nature. NOW with some of the popular distros its easy if not easyier to get things to work,

also on the account of apps and stuff on linux there is pretty much and alternative to everything and the apps are easy to install, compatability is not really an issue well... with windows not so more but

There are no "guys from Linux." There are just people who work on Linux in their spare time, or for their job at Intel or whatever.

Speaking of Intel they have really been on the ball with Linux support. Just about any Intel hardware you can think of not only has a Linux driver but the driver was good enough to be accepted as part of the mainline Linux kernel. Which mean things like wireless cards (Centrino) and onboard graphics and sound work out of the box. This isn't important for enthusiasts who tend to use higher-end graphics and sound, but for noobs who have lower-end hardware and don't care, it's great.

Well the vista X-Fi drivers are really good now - afaik there's nothing wrong with them anymore.

It did take them a long time to get linux support but it's not like they said "works with linux" on the box or anything.
