The Hardware Sensors Monitor panel applet may not be installed by default. Updated the OP with package names. (Fedora: gnome-applet-sensors; Ubuntu: sensors-applet)

A well-done command line is powerful AND efficient. Not to mention will check to see if the Coke machine downstairs is sold out or not, or if your coffee pot is empty, and will even convince your parents you're learning something useful even if you're clearly playing Nethack, the most addictive game ever written (Fedora: nethack; Ubuntu: nethack-console).

Microsoft, regrettably, purchased an incredibly powerless command line when it bought MS-DOS (of course Bill also paid a fire-sale price for it) and has done virtually nothing to improve it in the last 25 years. Instead they built something totally new and incompatible which, while technically sort of nice, requires an education in .NET to understand fully.

On the other hand the Unix command line, built on some simple extensible concepts, has grown even more powerful over time and is within anyone's reach.

As for overclocking, there is a native Linux version of several of the Pi calculation programs. SuperPi, for instance, was actually created on *nix and then ported to Windows.

Nicely done, may I suggest Coolbits for OCing an nVidia card? Last time i installed ubuntu I believe I had to add

"coolbits" "1"

to my xorg.conf (something like "coolbits" "1") then it adds a listing in the nVidia control panel.
