Nice blog, Caedis. I used to run a Linux blog similar to yours, but I got tired of paying hosting fees so I shut it down. I now have a free wordpress blog, but I haven't put much on it yet.

And, I also derived my handle from a Latin word (actually a Latin name from ancient Rome). The handle I use here is an anagram of my real handle.

That is great work.

Personally, I love to load up Guild Wars in Linux. WoW via Private Servers as well. I'm not a fan of paying per month for my MMO.

But its guides like these that helped me break into Linux.

Its also a plus that Steam & Most Valve titles run flawlessly in Linux.

I have some issues with Day of Defeat: Source, but those are internal bugs that happen on both Windows & WINE.

Exactly. That's a far removed opinion from the kind I hear from un-educated windows-is-the-only-way-to-play-games fanboys. Not to say that there are that many. but they are out there, preying on young Linux users that haven't found out how to do whats in the OP.

I came into Linux back in the start of 2006.

And I've been running WINE for years now. It has honestly come a long way.

And one day, we may get all games back on OpenGL.

The whole reason I started to dual boot linux, is that a local LAN I went to, all the machines they had their had OpenGL Quake 3 & UT 99 loaded on them. Along with a few other FPS they used for the tournaments.

It really opened my eyes to other things. And has taught me a lot since then.

Haven't used wine in a few months, the main reason I use it is for older games that don't work properly on Vista but I never knew you could get good results from newer games. I might try a few source games on it a bit later....

Caedis, have you thought of adding a section about cedega to your the first post? This has allowed me to make a full transition from windows over to fedora 10. Gameplay is the same if not better than windows (added the opengl switch).
