You may be fine with that erroring. Many of the items installed in winetricks help, but arent going to make or break you with most games. The biggies are the Fonts and DirectX9.

Is it after DX9 has been installed? If not, how do I skip it?

if you like you can just double click winetricks and check directX and allfonts. Most of the work is done by the time winetricks is executed.

Hard to say definitely. but the two I consider most important are DirectX9 and allfonts. If your unable to play it try using an earlier wine version. The latest one out 1.1.26 is listed as "Gold" status, but in my expirence your going to have to do some tinkering to get this game to calm down. I had issues with it in 1.1.22 through 1.1.24 so I gave it a rest for a while till they could get these regressions fixed.

The main thing for me was to use Wine 1.1.12 and have it run Fallout in windows XP mode. That seemed to have the best results on my computer. However, each version of Wine they seem to get that much closer to platinum.

Another tricky thing was to get a save game at the beginning of the game since starting a new game from the main menu would crash, but loading and playing worked fine.

To see my test results and more detailed instructions on what i did use the link below to my AppDB entry:
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManage...estingId=40182

However, I would recommend you try using the latest build of wine 1.1.26 and the tips from it. You may have an easier time since it looks like some issues have been fixed. (Might have to try this out again for myself come to think of it...)

You need to download this file from http://www.videohelp.com/tools?d=Xvi...3-27042008.exe manually (don't do it with wget, use your browser) and put it to /home/pow3rtr1p/.winetrickscache/.

Now you can run winetricks allcodecs and install Xvid.
