What is the best way to play DX9 games on Linux (Ubuntu Distro). I'm brand new to linux, so bear with me

The games I'm looking to play are CSS and games like that.

I need a FREE way to play them on linux

uhh only thing I can think of is cedega, and there's a free version of it ouroboros uses it, or used it. an other one out there is WINE but I'm not too sure about that

Cedega is based on wineX which is free. You should be able to get that from winehq at www.winehq.com

How do you get Steam/CSS installed using Wine?

It's a fairly difficult and unfruitful process ( )...don't waste your time...wine/cedega aren't that far yet IMO...it's very buggy and strange atm...even with cedega 4.4.3. Don't hope for anything with vanilla wine...

EDIT: haha...probably going to get warned ... let me erase that...
