So I reboot after my newest Arch install and on boot up it says it cannot get a hostname which I have setup of course and was just in while testing xterm. I also do not have a rc.conf file as I figured I would edit this to see if the Hostname was reset.
Everything else seems to be there I am currently in command line with no gui front end and my username is there and my info is in /etc/hosts. pink

Is your host name set in the main config? if its not in rc.conf then it will moan about it haha, you must have a rc.conf if all else fails just reinstall, useually it takes me a couple of reinstalls to get arch to a nice working desktop good luck

LOL Yeah. You have an rc.conf dude, trust us.
In it I think it even says it needs to be in the hosts file as well. Theres a hostname part. Try a cat /etc/rc.conf | grep hostname and youll see it probably says "myhost". Gluck. Also, what does your hosts entry look like?

My rc.conf was blank when I did sudo nano /etc/rc.conf so I took a default rc.conf file from arches website and copied it in thru a liveCD. However after me editing the file I still did not have a hostname.

Do you see something that looks like this in your /etc/rc.conf:
