when i installed Mint 7 RC i used the basic tool to set my TV resolution (1360x768), and after restarting the PC it worked fine.
only problem is, all the nvidia drivers i use (windows and linux) seem to think the TV is meant to be in 1920x1080 and when i set it to that res, the screen doesn't fit. the TV's manual says to work with a PC, the HDMI cable needs to be in slot 2 on the TV (which it is) and that the default res must be 1360x768. any way i can get it to work properly and display at 1360x768 with the nvidia drivers, without having parts of the screen cut off?

Can't you just force the res in windows?
Else go to nvidia control panel > Display > Manage custom resolutions > Create

in windows manually setting it like that using the default RC drivers works fine. in Linux it doesn't.

Have you tried manually editing xorg.conf?
I think it's located in /etc/X11 (still learning myself!)

You what?

You need to specify the DPMS timings yourself. Do "nvidia-xconfig" as root, and find the VertRefresh and HorSync in the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file (something like that) and change them to your own preference.
I use 125 for Horizontal and 180 for Vertical.
