Some Linux Help
OK. I have Linux (Ubuntu distro) up and running. I've kinda figured some stuff out, but for the most part I'm confused.
Can someone show me a codec so I can play MP3s with the player that comes with Ubuntu? I tried realplayer... it plays, but there is no support for artist searching as far as I can tell (its really basic). I like the program that comes with Ubuntu, but its OGG files only (that i've found so far. MP3s get the error "This File Is Not An Audio Stream".

hey man, I'm using kubuntu, but as far as playing mp3s go, I dunno, I don't really worry about that, I finally got firefox installed. check your package manager, you might be able to enable it there. there just might be an audio codec package, if not then google it lol

Does anybody know of a decent Linux How-To? Like basic commands and stuff you should know?

GUYS!
ubuntuguide.org - the BEST linux helper site I have EVER seen. It's so thorough...BOOKMARK NOW. I could've sworn...it used to be 'sudo apt-get install gstreamer-plugins-mp3' or something...looks like they've changed it. (?) Last change 2 August...hrm. No. I think they're revising it for the 5.10 release...just haven't made note of it yet. But for 5.04 look in synaptic for gstreamer plugin mp3...
