only because DirectX is a MS only creation. Believe me, we don't 'choose' to keep windows. Gates made that decision for us when he offered monetary incentives for devs to develop games for DirectX over OpenGL when the two could still compete.

If you have to ask if you should use Linux, then you probably shouldn't. Everyone has to travel down their own road to Damascus.

Actually, I honestly believe the opposite. Once you learn about Linux, you would want to use it, or at least try it.

I would say its still good to gve Linux a try though. Game compatibility would probably be disappointing but there is more to gain from learning a new OS than what gaming could offer.

And there isn't any good reason not to at least try Linux. Its more secure, more lightweight, more flashy, and more reliable than windows. Plus, its 100% customizable, something Windows can't boast. the sole shortcoming of Linux is its lack of DirectX for gaming.

for example, you can have a fully functional system in less than 4gb's of space... only XP and below can do that from microsoft's end... but XP won't be as stable as you can attest to use Ubuntu 9.04 and use the etx4 filesystem when you install, then enjoy the magic
