Default Should I Try Linux?

Hola, Linux users.

I am a devoted Windows user, but alas, I come in peace. I have tried Vista, and hated it. I have tried W7, been accepting as a father is to a long lost child, as if it had finally come back to me, but it's still in it's premature stages (ie, it doesn't run all applications and games I want >:[). And XP has been a beautiful, hot piece of ass that I can't help but touch...but I constantly get crashes, viruses, errors, restarts, etc...what could I expect from such a whore? :3
I have tried Linux before, it was Ubuntu, and I admit, it was fun. I mean FUN, fun. I had only known ****ty mac and barely tolerable windows before, but now? Now was something new, and interesting. There were new programs, new browsers, new ways to do things, everything new to explore. It was exciting.

:0

But then, I found....DEATH. As much as I love the computer, and I love building them and working on them and spending hundreds of dollars on them...I'm still in highschool. What do I need a HAF 932 case with a 9800GTX+ GPU and a 700watt PSU for?

GAMINGGGGGG.

Although I haven't been able to play very many games due to constant OS failures (For the past few months I've been playing around with OS's, installing several W7s, XPs, etc). While most people were trying to figure out if they wanted Vista or XP, I was busy creating a system that would boot up with XP Professional, XP Media Center Edition, Vista, and W7. I had it all. Except that having so many OS's, using old backup CDs from old laptops, they weren't exactly...stable.

So I havent really been able to find a OS that can:

a)Allow me to install a game on it(without crashing)
b)Allow me to open a game on it(without crashing)
c)Allow me to play a game on it(without crashing)

Because of this, the only PC games I've ever played were Red Alert 3 (ew) COD4 Campaign (ONLINE DIDNT WORK???) CODWAW(decent game...) some Oblivion (Been there, done that on the PS3, nothing new) and Need For Speed Carbon (somewhat fun game....except I've already beat it before...)

So now I'm stuck with a system that has several unstable OS's and several boring games. I'm too scared to try and download another version of XP and try, for the next 30hours, to install it, download games, and play them, only to see they don't work, OR go out and buy an awesome game, then come home to see it won't play on W7. (I did this with Timeshift...=[)

So, linux people, I ask you...Should I try Linux? Or do I need to suck it up and spend $100+ on a new copy of Windows XP?

You could always dual boot. No harm in trying.

It gave me 7 or so Linux's...and a few sentences summarizing them. I chose Linux Mint because it says its very customizable and visual, which is something I think looks sweet about linux. As far as I'm concerned, they're all similar, so I might as well get one that I can customize.

If it's mainly for gaming I think you know what to do. Just do it without messing up, because most of the world can play games fine. But since you asked, dual boot to try it out. I'm curious, seeing as you had so many problems with Windows, how Linux would turn out

if you're new to linux and you'd like the windows look/feel then I think try go for Linux Mint or Ubuntu. If you'd like the whole windows GUI feel too, then try out Linux Mint KDE Edition or Kubuntu

Why is Linux comming up where gaming is priority?? Gaming is one of the reasons Linux people choose to keep Windows around..
