Default Intel GMA & Linux?
Still as bad as it was?

Have the drivers had a 180 and actually decided to work yet?

More so, will 1080p playback do just fine? I know the GMA4500HD works just fine with 1080p in Windows, but I was wondering if it was still fudged up in Linux.

I'm probably going to go for Ubuntu on it, and then strip and build what I need & want.

GMA drivers work fine on my netbook - but it's not HD capable, so I can't comment on that

For me, GMA plays really well. The current drivers are actually pretty good - IDK about HD, but if it helps at all, it handles all kinds fancy Compiz/KWin effects without any lag at all.
