Thanks everyone, just one last question if you don't mind...
Can I transfer over my files to the Ubuntu partition such as music, documents, and so on, and be sure there won't be a problem with them such as file corruption or something that would make me lose them?

Sure can. Ubuntu has NTFS read/write support, although you might have to install it manually, but it isn't too hard. It works as if you're writing from NTFS to NTFS.

Yes I know it's possible, I actually was talking about the safety of my files.

I've transferred gigs of files from NTFS > EXT3 and 4 partitions with no problems. If your really, REALLY worried about corruption, use a FAT32 external drive for storage.

Historically speaking though, your looking to get struck by lightning. It could happen, but the NTFS driver for Linux is tried and tested.

Now, the EXT3/4 driver for Windows is a different story entirely. Long story short, be sure and transfer files between partitions only while in Linux.

I have transferred well over 30GB of data at a single time in linux between NTFS and EXT3 with absolutely no problem. You have a higher chance of knocking over your drive and shartering the platters in after a 6 inch drop than corrupting your files. Even on ubuntu 7.10 (that is almost 4 versions again or almost 2 1/2 years!) I had absolutely no issues. As a matter of fact, my external storage drive was NTFS and had over 250GBs of data on it from linux. No issues.
