Default HOWTO:Hulu-Desktop for linux!

Hey I don't know if anyone else has found this, but I saw this on the Arch fourms and I thought all of you should know!

There is a Hulu desktop application for Linux now. And I'll show you the simple process for installing it on Debian/*buntu and ArchLinux.

For Debian it's simple.

First you'll need Flash.
Code:
sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree
And you could have LIRC (required for remote control functionality)
Code:
 sudo apt-get install lirc lirc-modules-source
Go to this link and download the .deb for x86 (32-bit)
Or this link for x84_64 (also known as AMD64 and 64-bit)

And double click to install it.

I would imagine it would be under one of your list in Applications

For ArchLinux.

If you have Yaourt installed (which I recommend. It makes life so much easier.) You can simply do

Code:
yaourt -Sy huludesktop
And then run huludesktop.

If you want remote control functions, make sure you install LIRC (which is listed in the optional dependcies)

(See trouble shooting if it says it can't find libflashplayer.so)

If you like to install from PKGBUILD yourself, here is the package page.

Please note that it has a build for Fedora as well.

Fedora x86
Fedora x86_64

TROUBLESHOOTING

If you recieve the "Cannont find libflashplayer.so" error like I did do the following.

Open a terminal and run
Code:
 locate libflashplayer.so
Mine was /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so
YMMV.

Now run gedit ~/.huludesktop (or whatever your text editor of choice is)

and change
Code:
 flash_location = (null)
to
Code:
 flash_location = /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so
or whatever your location is.

Then try running huludesktop again.
