Default Help with Fedora/Amahi Server

I'm trying to set up an Amahi server, so I got Fedora and the Amahi software installed and now the first order of business is trying to access the network shares from another computer. I'm on my iBook and I can see my server under the network tab in Finder but when I try to connect it either tells me the alias is broken or just asks for authentication over and over again.

I've never used linux before, so it's probably something really simple...

A little more info on your setup would be helpful, have you tried typing http://hda or the share's path that your trying to connect to in the browser. Is it handling dhcp if so you need to disable this on your router, is it the PDC,did you reboot modem/router & pc's after installing? Also are you using the same user name & password that you created during the install process? You might be able to find your answers here.

If the HDA handles DHCP by default (and I think it does) then it's doing it's job, and I've disable the router DHCP server. I also rebooted everything after changing router settings, and I know it's working because my laptop is getting an IP address. I'm also able to view http://hda from the server itself, but not from any other computer, nor can I access any of shares. As for login info i've tried using both the full name of the use and also the nickname, neither works.

I understand this probably isn't the best place to ask this sort of question, so I'm also going to join the amahi forums and see what help i can get there.

just wait for one of the '*nix masters' to roll around.

All I want to know is have you tried mounting the networked drive in your macbook?

I've tried, yes. I can see all of the different shares from the finder but when I try to mount them I either get an error saying the alias is broken or it will endlessly keep asking for authentication information. It's pretty inconsistent, I will sometimes get a different result (one of the 2 aforementioned) while trying the same log-in info.

Your probably right just something simple being missed,it sounds like you're doing everything correctly,it just may be a setting.I've been using amahi for awhile now and haven't come across someone using a macbook. At anyrate you'll get a faster help if you go to the webchat site(Amahi Live).Sorry I couldn't help more.
