lol that one happens from time to time.

force the computer to restart (ie unplug it) and then it should work.

did the DVD download properly?

put it into the PC, boot off of it, and then hit check disc for defects. also make sure you burn the disc at the slowest speed possible and verify it after burning..

Uninstall Wubi and re-install. Don't worry, it uninstalls instantly. Don't run many other processes to make sure it doesn't **** up. The first boot should take a while. This time just let it do its thing. Go out or do something else and come back and it should boot.

I have Wubi & XP on another PC and it just took a really long time to boot the first time.

Okay heres how it went.

1st try: an old 9.4CD i had i booted from vista and installed it, had the above problem.

2nd try: After uninstalling ubuntu, i tried again only with a bootable wubi that installed off the hard drive. Same problem.

how long would you say i should wait as well, and when you were waiting, did it goto that busybox thing?

If it keeps going to busybox, make sure the computer is not overclocked (that prevented my ubuntu from booting) and make sure you shut down cleanly from windows. If you in any way just pressed the power button and didn't let windows shut down properly, ubuntu gives the busy box. I was really frustrated when I first installed hardy and it did that. GL, hope that helps.

Are you trying to install Ubuntu inside Vista?
This means that you can have Ubuntu 9.04 running in a window while running Windows Vista.

The screenshot below shows Ubuntu Jaunty running "inside" Vista. This is accomplished if you install VMware (or similar)

Another option is to have dual boot, where you can either boot in Vista OR boot in Ubunty 9.04

In order to setup dual boot, you can:

1.- Create a separate partition and install into it from the Ubuntu CD.
2.- Use the WUBI installer

Option 1 will require you to setup the GRUB loader so you can let the system know if you want to boot Ubuntu OR Windows. Option 2 will use Windows boot menu.

I personnally prefer option 1 since Ubuntu, there, runs in it's "native" ext3 file system.

So, IMO, Wubi is only an installer that launchs from windows (easier for potentally migrating users), but that somehow cripples Ubuntu.

... he's having problems using WUBI...

OP, may as well try using a Virtual Machine or using a dedicated partition...
