thing is, I looked everywhere for drivers to use the internet. I have the os installed on a 2nd older hard drive. I would like to eventually place it in an older system, but for now I just want to get used to it on my main desktop environment. I have a 680i motherboard with mcp55 Ethernet controllers.

if I were you, I'd hit up ubuntu forums. they are normally pretty good at figuring out this kind of stuff. I have never gotten much help on OCN

Same here. http://www.ubuntuforums.org is one of the best places to go for help when it comes to ubuntu man.

The internet is down for a reboot, please be patient while you receive a complimentary controllers rub.

Totally agreed - they helped me out when I first got started - and I never needed to post - just reading was enough.
Stinks it didn't just recognize it - you'll find Ubuntu is generally pretty easy going when it comes to drivers (minus graphics - I found that to be tough). Don't know what you intend on doing with Ubuntu - but I can assure you you'll crunch at 30% higher than Windows based machines with BOINC..you should check it out if you ever wanted to donate CPU cycles (like folding, only for your CPU).... Unfortunately, I had to move back to Windows primarily because a GPU client was Windows only (Milkyway@home).. so I lose CPU cycles - but gain mad GPU cycles!!! .. Ubuntu is awesome though overall....totally worth the price!
