Default Which distro?

Ok, so I've tried Linux before, and it's neat. I've got an extra computer at my disposal now, so I want to install some Linux distros on it. Which ones would be the best for someone wanting to tinker/maybe HTPC sometime? I was thinking about tri-booting. Computer isn't a powerhouse (1.1GHz Athlon, Nvidia Riva TNT2, 384MB), but I think it can handle most distros.

Right now I'm thinking Mint, Ubuntu, and Arch. Feel free to tell me why those are the wrong choices, and why I should instead choose x.

Ubuntu Ultimate, it comes with a lot of cool stuff pre-installed. Granted you can do it all through synaptec but that takes awhile.

The other choices are good. Mint is pretty much ubuntu.

how about Elive or Crunchbang? those are pretty lightweight and would run fast on those specs.

It honestly comes down to how you configure each. Although out of the 3 distros you listed, I would think that Arch would be the easiest to start off as minimal as possible.
