Don't get Ubuntu...
Get Fedora if you get anything. You can get an installable Fedora live cd and it should install and run with no issues link Cheers

I would get either Fedora or Ubuntu. I'm currently using Ubuntu 9.04 and I'm really enjoying it.

how about http://www.knoppix.net/get.php its hardware scrub is usually good for old hardware KNOPPIX_V6.0.1CD-2009-02-08-EN.iso seems the most current 10-Feb-2009 05:55 645M
