As an FYI, ubuntu now supports RAID out of the box!

Hasn't it always? I know I've been running RAID0 since kernel version 2.6.28 (since the kernel is the one that takes care of RAID)

Before 9.10, I never seen RAID support for ubuntu out of the box... I mean installing it directly on ubuntu. 9.04 I couldn't install on RAID as it it only saw 3 drives not just 2 (my RAID and my 500GB).


If you were to count from the time you see the ubuntu symbol till login, it is 15 seconds. From log in to desktop it is 5 seconds. Boot chart is a little off to me...


Boot chart counts from the time you hit enter to select the kernel.

The alternate CD worked fine for both mdraid and dmraid

That's a small screenshot... but that's a horribly slow boot time (does it say 1 minute?), or bootchartd runs for too long

I have an around 10 sec boot from kernel init to X start

From kernel init to X start I am about 15s. From login to desktop, I am about 5. And Bootchart does run WAY too long.
