So I got 9.10 on my laptop but I want to get it dual booting with Windows 7 on my desktop. So I bootup the install disk and it finds my 500gb array. I have 30gb free space at the end of the drive so I create my ext4 and swap partitions and start the install which moves smoothly. Upon reboot the Intel raid manager says the array has failed. It looks like the array splits somehow, like one 250gb disk is still a member disk but the other drive isn't. So I boot into the live Ubuntu distro and nuke the partition, then the RAID manager says it's healthy again. Then I can fix the mbr and log back into my Windows install.
Anyone else having his issue?

are you writing grub to the MBR or to the partition?

yes. on the last page of the setup options there is an advanced settings button or something similar. it will have the grub options in it.
should make it all go to the partition, dont mess with the mbr.

Well it looks like I won't be getting Ubuntu on my sys anytime soon. I tried changing where Grub was installed and now my RAID is failed and can't be repaired like I was doing before. I'll try nuking the whole array and installing Ubuntu first, then Windows 7.

if you do that you will have to reinstall grub. windows will not recognise the ubuntu partition to make it a boot option.

Funny thing that you mention this, because I remember also having this with Ubuntu and DMRaid. A cold reboot ALWAYS fixed it, but I was never able to have Ubuntu completely detect my RAID array. IIRC, it worked fine with Gentoo. I never tried DMraid with Arch Linux.
