My lil monster

Hey mate, just a quick question. I've got i7 920 stable @ 3.82ghz on air. Had it for past 3.5yrs. The upcoming IB seems to be running a bit hot but i will wait for the release and proper benchmarks. Anyway, if I was to skip IB and wait for Haswell, would I benefit from switching to watercooling and overclocking my CPU to 4.4ghz?

Sorry for the lateness... Temps would definitely be better, but it depends what else you would have in the loop. What are you using right now and what kind of temps? Mine was always on water so I couldn't tell you air temps for me.

Hey thanks for the reply. I just bought Corsair H100. Got it stable on 4ghz with idle @ 35 degrees and load of 68 degrees. Quiet happy for now. I see you went for X79 ... how is it compared to old 920? =]

This thing flys. It does much better at coding/photoshop etc..(obviously), but for most of what I do I have not been able to justify the "upgrade" haha. I did it m ore to just have a newer rig. the 920 will probably go down as my fav processor I have used. The temps your getting look pretty average. What voltage you kicking to it?
