Parts explanation:
CPU: I'm sure many people would opt for the more powerful Core i7-3930K but since this will mainly be a gaming rig, I don't feel that the extra $300 justifies the extra 2 cores.
Motherboard: I went with a very high end SB motherboard because I'd like this rig to last and be upgradeable for a long time.
GPU: Obviously the Radeon HD 7xxx series isn't out yet but I'm hoping that by the time a winner is chosen and the money is given out, it will be. I'm assuming the price to be ~$400 but am leaving an extra $100 or so of clearance in case it ends up being more
RAM: 16GB of DDR3 running at 1600MHz should be plenty. I went with the Ripjaws X because they're made for SB.
Storage: I've been wanting an SSD for a long time so this is a perfect opportunity to get one. A 1TB storage drive will be plenty for me and I love the F3's.
If the 7970 isn't available yet i'd be very happy with 6950's in crossfire instead.
