Once Upon a Time Machine

Rig type Other
Description I do a little gaming, a little video editing, a little animation, a lot of browsing/reading/communicating, I've tried to assemble a home pc which would exceed those I use for work - for my own play. Purchasing components which work well together to provide stability, durability, reliability and are feature rich. I don't worry about how noisy the fans are (I've worked in data centers for the last 25 years) and I wear headphones when gaming. When I want to do something that requires some oomph from the CPU or GPU and those need overclocked, I want to capability to do so easily - and then step everything back down to lower power consuming states. I lucked into a top shelf PSU but I search for purchases like that. I typically avoid cutting edge and generally purchase at least one generation behind the front wave. If I want to try something involving a computer, I'll pursue that with top shelf performance in mind, while not totally burning through finances to do so. I have other interests besides home computing, after all.

Kind of amazing to see the total price. Especially when you purchase odds and ends, every few months - over years. lol
