Macs come with 2gb standard.

OK I'll be candid, And I'll tell you I know squidly when it comes to MACS..... I saw some on GEEKS and the have 128 to 256 MB RAM.... Other than that I know squat.... I just want one to play with. I've never played with the MAC OS or Linux on MAC.... But they seem so cool. I just want to fiddle with one.... I don't want to pay an arm and a leg..... I just want the experience....

Well you got an eMac, not an iMac.

With that you can't do much. Check google and see what the RAM limit is for the eMac and buy Tiger or Panther for it. I doubt it can handle Leopard.

When I had Mac OS X on my original iMac I though it was going to explode.

It'll run Leopard EASILY. Its above the system requirements for it, just buy some more ram for it and you'll be good to go! Heck, I used CCC to install Leopard on my G4 w/ a 450mhz G4, Rage 128 and 512mb of ram and its no slower than Tiger was, which wasn't that slow to begin with. I say go ahead and buy it!

Nevermind, your right.

I justed looked on the back of the Leopard box and his computer meets all of the requirements.

hmm my best mac is a G3 400mhz tower 10gig 256meg DVD and osx 10.2 JAGUAR

128MB of RAM would probably be too little for an OSX Mac. I'm not sure about OS 9, though.

512 is OK for OSX, but 1GB is perfect. I have 2.5GB (I added my own 2GB stick), and it's overkill. Most of the time I have around 2GB free (including cached) lol

I'd like an older PPC Mac just to play around with Linux in. I wounder how or if it would be different at all.

1GB is the standard, still. That's 2 x 512MB.

For that price I saw on the link you provided, I'd get one for myself. Hell, if I had seen one in a retail store for that price, I wouldn't have bought my sig rig (which I got for the sole purpose of learning Linux.)

If you want it to fiddle with OSX, the learning curve isn't huge at all. I think it's the easiest OS to get used to.

I have no idea about running Linux on a PPC, though. I would have tried it like I said, if I had seen one of these before. It would be cool if PPC Linux versions came with all the necessary drivers for Macs, since the variety of hardware isn't so vast anyway.

1 GB is fine, thats how much I have in my MacBook right now.
