i hate when ppl do that, you can essentially say that to every question asked on every forum out there.. "google"

and i did google it at first, but i dont want to go through every link on the first page, because it doesn't say, all it says is that you drag and drop a folder into the dock, which does not work

Well you should always google first; then search the forum; and then, if you still didn't find the answer, ask the question. And if you would have stated in your original post that the "normal" approach (like solutions found with google) to your problem didn't work, I wouldn't have posted the google link.

Anyway, in normal conditions you have to drag&drop a map from the finder onto the rightside of the "|" thingy (that little divider on the dock). And if you use your touchpad make sure drag&drop is enabled or use the button

Simply drag a folder next to the Trash

That is all. If you have 10.5.2, you can right-click it and choose 1 of the 3 view styles: Fan, Grid, and List. List is the only one that will allow you to go through folders without having to open up a new Finder window, though. They should really improve this and allow it in Grid and Fan in 10.5.3...

I actually don't think so. That's one thing that Macs sometimes suck about - you don't get to customize some things.

Do what THG said, stacks work automatically. Just drag a folder on the dock next to the trash.

And you can't have it on the left.

LMAO!
Stacks are like groups in the taskbar but instead of open apps it's with files, right? What a ripoff.
