Go for it Getting it working properly with all your hardware (well, depending on what you have) will really test your knowledge of the OS...AND hardware. It sure took me forever and a day to figure it all out, I had barely worked with Mac OS at the system level beforehand. You never really have to when its on a real mac anyway.

Damn. Did you at least make a backup image of the drive? Always a good idea with these things

I did Carbon Copy Cloner and Time Machine backups before I updated.

It's always a good idea to backup before messing with system stuff...

I do stuff with system files all the time; I use the Terminal whenever possible

Maybe it won't be too hard

It would only make sense that a hackintosh wouldn't work with it, they had to hack it just to get it to work in the first place.

you dont install the update on a hackintosh, you wait for people to release a OSX86 compatible version, because the update changes system files, which means it breaks the features which makes OSX86 work ...

update on my macbook was only 192mb ...

Nah, that depends on HOW its installed it. If you have a hacked kernel then yeah you need to hack it again. But if you have PC-EFI (emulates the mac bios) then you can run OSX and update it and everything like it was natively installed on a mac. You just have to use a Core2 processor to do that.

I dont

Wow. How come Windows Service Packs take so long to install, while the updates from Apple are extremely short. Yet the file size is basically the same.

Have you noticed an overall improvement in speed?

And yes, I noticed that the install was rather quick as well

The Time Machine backup after the update took a while. I would imagine that it should be expected, though.
