Default Tiger = Huge memory hogger

Wow, Dashboard runs the widgets but each widget takes it own memory . Leopard it doesn't work like that. Dashboard is one big process take includes everything into one app (and uses less memory by stock)

gah.

I have none. I took them off..

even with that, I still have about 200/300Mbs free for real memory. Leopard is sounding way more better

Not sure how it works exactly, but there are still multiple Dashboard processes running in Leopard. If you check Activity Monitor, you will see.

For example, right now I have 8 Widgets running, and they are using ~20, ~20, ~10, and ~8MB.

In Tiger, each one would seem to have its own process and take about 10MB each.

Oh, and if in Leopard you use Web Clip to make Widgets, they will take ~50MB each. Those are the ones you can select a webpage area in Safari and make a Widget out of it.

In all, like XP compared to vista, memory management is different between Tiger and Leopard. Leopard, overall, seems to have more Active RAM than Tiger, but, like vista, is more responsive as a desktop OS.

Or just never click on Dashboard... It doesn't start up unless you click it once (each time you log in.)
