Well a few weeks ago I decided to buy my spoiled girlfriend one of the pink 8GB iPod Nano's from an apple store at the local mall and thought they were pretty sexy.
__________________Anyway I take it home and turn it on...then I come to find that the screen is somewhat "Tilted" a few degrees to the left and we're both OCD so I drove back to the mall and asked for an exchange (After I found out on multiple forums and news sites that this was a common problem with the newest iPod Nano's...which I found kind of utterly disgusting) Managed to get a replacement without any hassle or charge and took it home and uploaded some music to it. So far so good with the hardware aspect and customer service...then I decided to give iTunes a try! ...Anyway I downloaded The Wire Season 2 for $20 and let all of the episodes download while I was at work. Upon returning from work I found that only 9/12 episodes had downloaded and the other 3 episodes had some kind of error so I had to resume/restart the download on them. So finally I managed to download all 12 Episodes then get a message stating that once you purchase anything on iTunes (My TV Show for example) you can only download it once then its up to you to back it up ETC... I found this to be incredibly hinky because the way I look at it is what if I had downloaded all 12 episodes and then her computer exploded? I'd have to pay $20 again. I'm going to tinker with it some more once I get home but I better be able to do whatever the hell I want with these .MP4's of The Wire I got from iTunes or I'm going ![]() ![]() ![]()

Yeah, customer service is pretty nice, and the products are usually top quality too, besides the whole expensive thing. Either way, they really need to do iTunes over, and allow for like, 3 downloads at least, if not unlimited after you purchase them.
I had a similar experience with my iPod Touch. It had a dead pixel, and they replaced it the second I said some thing was wrong. I even got a $10 iTunes giftcard, but I get my music from somewhere that doesn't cost as much money. ![]()

Yeah I'm not really too fond of iTunes right now...especially since I can't get the damn thing to work as intended on my GF's old XP laptop

Honestly, you should just call them up. They may reimburse you for it anyway.

I lost a song once, and I had to buy it again. That's not as bad as your situation, though.
You could go to the store and hopefully show some kind of proof of this claim and they might give you an iTunes gift card. Btw, why is this in the Operating Systems forum?

Wait, aren't you allowed to just get the song because you already paid for it? Isn't that an instance where downloading music, that you have already paid for, is not illegal?

I love Apple iPods but HATE HATE HATE HATE iTunes. It's so clunky, I wish I could just use it like any regular mp3 player.

And technically, it's not illegal. Why should they give you something again because you lost yours? That's like buying a pet rock, accidentally deleting it, then saying, "I want a new one." Although that isn't a perfect analogy since you can't really run out of copies of a song. I agree, though; it's stupid. It's linked to your account anyway. Only you can play it. And with "iTunes Plus" songs, which are DRM free, you can make unlimited copies anyway, so why not allow us to download unlimited copies?

To those who misread my GF's computer is fine and so are the TV Show Episodes but I was just spouting hate for a "What If?" situation.
__________________Granted I can back them up to DVD but I still thought this was an incredbily annoying setback? I swear to god they better not have ANY FORM of DRM

They do, but Apple has to put a DRM on them because the contract they have with TV networks. In order for Apple to sell TV shows, movies and music on the iTunes Music store the record/tv/music companies make them put a DRM on their stuff. Now there is some music on the iTunes music store that has a little "+" next to it, that is higher quality and DRM free, but its only on music right now.
