Default Would this be a violation of fourm rules?

Lets say if I were to add my backup desktop specs to my signature, would it be against the rules to list the OS as hackintosh 10.4?

I don't know what it says in the rules about it, but IMO its just plain ignorant to think that its not out there, and as long you're not providing links or support or anything, I don't see why it wouldn't be allowed, but thats just my opinion, I hope it doesn't get me warned, lol.

Is a hackintosh a pirated Mac OS or is it just loading the Mac OS on a non apple PC?

that's what I think too, as long as I don't link anyone up with disk images or tutorials it should be ok, and I won't discuss it, I just wanna put the os it has down.

with the hackintosh, all files used to make it run on a normal pc are open source. so aslong as you dont say if it is pirated or not you might be fine

You prepatch, (or download, which i dont condone of course!), a normal leopard dvd somehow and install it.

It's pirated, but if the person owns a legal copy and patches it her/himself, is it that bad?

anyway it's on a normal dvd

That is the second issue. The first issue is that in the EULA of OSX Apple specifies that it may only be used on their hardware. The second issue is that in order to run OSX on non-apple hardware some additional patching is needed, which can be done by the end user but is usually done by groups that post the complete ISOs on torrent sites. So now we've got breach in EULA and pretty probable illegal downloading.

System: Linux exclusive? I think so.

It would probably be in your best interest not to talk about any hacking, pirating, etc that you do in your own personal time. (NOT TO SAY THAT YOU DO ANY OF THESE THINGS AT ANY POINT IN TIME) You should consider such issues your private business that you do in your private life and it's no one else business here, but your own.
