However, my dvdrw is broken, so when I get my i7 rig set up I will bring it to the Apple store and have em fix it.

When I insert a disc it makes this weird loud clicking noise and doesn't recognize the disc. Then I have to restart to eject it. I had 1 problem on my first unibody with the fan running and the hdd making weird clicking sounds, so they swapped it out. Hoepfully 3rd time is the charm.
do you think it is the drive mechanism (the parts that take the disk in and put it in the correct place) or the internal parts that spin and read the disk?

i was starting to have an issue with the first case and what i read that fixed it was to insert a disk in and pull it out a two or three times, might be worth a shot

No, it is internal parts. I put the disc in but it wont eject unless i restart the comp. i have tried like 5 different discs and it does not scratch them either. w/e i got apple care and all my stuff is backed up on my 1tb anyways so its no biggie if they replace the whole comp.

Wow, already on your 3rd MBP? That's gotta suck... Good thing you have Apple Care. I hope your 3rd Apple doesn't turn out to be a sour apple. :P

Before you turned in your MBP's have you tried resetting the SMC or PRAM to remedy the issue?

I am on my 2nd MBP, and 3rd time is usually the charm. I will just have to be extra careful with it. I think it may have gotten damaged while in my backpack.

Anyways, what is the SMC or PRAM and how do I reset it?

PRAM is reset like this:

1. Restart computer (or turn it on if it's off)
2. Hold Apple + Alt + P + R until you hear the signature mac sound the SECOND time
3. That's it.

Hello Everyone well I wanna join the Mac club I bought my first Mac just about 2 and a half years ago and I am STILL using it There CS is beyond anything I have ever encountered before.

I have had 4 major problems with this laptop but they have all been fixed by walking into an apple store and waiting 30 mins and thats it just AMAZING!!! well I have a Macbook 13.3" Black (The first one that came out) I dont know my specifics since Im at work right now.

But what truly blew me away was my last major problem... I travel a lot and I ALWAYS take my macbook EVERYWHERE this thing has gone through a lot... well anyways about a week ago I was in Dubai, U.A.E. and well I was chilling at my hotel and all of a suddenly my mouse pad stops working :-O and I restart remove the battery and do EVERYTHING I can and nothing then all of a sudden it works for a bit but then stops again and the click for the mouse pad is acting like it is permanently pressed even worse -_- well I go down to the concierge ask em about an Apple store head over there hand them the laptop... The guy is like you really wont have any warranty unless you have the invoice for the laptop with you and of course I have not seen that from the first day I was like oh great im gonna be hit with some serious charges... well anyways the guy takes it in comes back and says the whole top of the macbook (the keyboard and mouse being one piece) has to be replaced since the mouse pad hardware has malfunctioned (AFTER TWO YEARS ) and its gonna cost around $200-$300 and we are not sure we have this in stock I have supposedly one in stock but not sure I was like WAH!! but ended up saying ok since that was still better than the $1800 hit a new laptop will be. So he takes it back there comes back after half an hour and is like we had it in stock got it replaced everything is good to go... AND your covered under some warranty and just sign here you don't have to pay anything THATS RIGHT (and I don't know the name of the warranty he said but it is AWESOME!!!) I was just blown away that this amount of care is taken in recording your warranty and making sure ALL of their service centers around the world know of it through the serial number i guess... Just amazing and this reason right here is why I will still buy a macbook when and IF this macbook fails

Great Service, Great Products is the ingredients to a GREAT company (I also have an iPhone and I LOVE IT! ) I would not call myself a fan boy since I use products from everyone like Alienware, Apple, Dell, HP, IBM, Custom Cases, Custom Laptops so mostly PC items and tbh none of my other products have had this great of a Customer Service. Thanks for reading!
