If games are a no go, do Apple. Despite their overpriced OS and Hardware, they make quite the good computer. Especially if you are into Photo or Video editing.

As much as I hate apple and its closed OS I do think they did a fantastic job on their products. Sure, you could custom build a computer with all your favorite parts and customize your OS the way you want making it safe and secure but for out of the box greatness, macs are good. I dont like macs but I cannot deny they are good machines for the basic user. Great, kinda like a toy. Just remember, once you want to play with the big boys again you will need to uprade. I did forget to mention that upgrading is pretty much a no go on a mac unless you get a mac pro.
