I would build a custom Mac. As long as you buy the OSX this is perfectly legal, with the advantage of being cheaper and custom. If you like.

You're one to talk. You take every opportunity you can get to dump a wall of text about OS X and how it's the greatest thing to ever grace this unworthy planet.

A mac is better at surfing the net, watching videos, writing documents, and sending email? Really now? What else is someone looking for an "out of the box" experience going to be doing? Your interpretation may vary, but to me that represents someone who knows very little about computers and doesn't need to do much else other than what I've listed.

I have to say... I LOVE my Macbook for everything I need to do related to work. OSX is just efficient. But when it comes to things that require any kind of processing? My sig rig wins every time. It's all about utility, really. If you're not going to do anything intensive, Macs are everything you'll need and a lot you never realized you did.

Mac for stability, PC for flexibility.

I have 2 PC's and a Mac. I only use the Mac when I need to NetBoot Unix servers. None of my engineering apps run OS X, and I like having complete control over my hardware and OS.

Things need to be explained because OSX is rather unknown around here. If you've taken an English class past the 5th grade, you know that the required length of writing is the amount that is sufficient for the reader to understand. Most of my "readers" aren't going to know what I mean with a mere 2-3 sentences, friend.


Well it does what you listed much better than windows does, in my opinion. But again, like anything else in the world, you can't know what that means unless you've actually taken the time to try one out and use as a desktop OS.

Why is it that people tell others they are wrong for having different ideas... Some people like OSX, some like Windows, some like linux or unix, and some people like all 3 for the differences between them all. Just because someone has a different idea or likes something different doesn't make them wrong. Give your opinion to the OP and let him make the choice that is best for him, since it is his money after all he should get something that he is going to like. Give your reason for what OS he should go with and let him decide based on that. Don't sit in the thread and argue with one another because you don't like what someone else has posted.
