I agree.

However, for under a grand, I don't think there would be anything amazing in this system - if apple continues with their current trend.

I'm betting this would either have that next gen atom board, or somehow they got a really slow core 2 duo armed with a x3100. But I don't think it can pull off 1080p. Maybe the x4500 can?

But hmmm, I'm really looking forward to this and see how it turns out.

If not intel, this can currently be done by AMD no problem. They already have ultra thins with 720p possible.

I hope it has keyboard support. This wouldn't do well in a classroom imho. It'll be like an over sized touch keyboard. Ugh : (

if this can do 1080p, hats off to apple. i'm not liking the price tag, but if it has a dual core in that would be nice. i want to know about the OS too. stripped out osx? or feature-rich iphone OS. from that picture, it looks like OSX rather than iphone os.

I doubt they would use the x3100, that chipset is old and power hungry.

Also, the GMA x4500HD can do HD playback just fine. It works well.
Though, I seriously doubt they would use a current Atom solution, it's not the Apple Style, as they normally have much more competent hardware in their line ups.

AMD can pare an Athlon Neo (Essentially an Athlon 64 Low Voltage) & HD3200 to do HD playback just fine.

Price might be slightly inflated because it *may* have a 1080p capable display.

Looks like Apple has a winner with this. A larger ipod touch/PC would win me over for bedside browsing and watching movies.

1080P should be pretty easy with that big size and price. My 300$ 4.8'' Archos can do 720P.

Hmm with Apple allowing HD Movie Rentals and Purchases in the iTunes store now, this is going to attract some attention. I wonder if they'll attack Amazon's Kindle with some type of app.
