Ok, so. I have never posted anything in the mac section. So if this is in the wrong place, I apologize.
My friend has just got a nice Macbook Pro for her college are course. 4 gigs DDR3 ram, 2.6 GHz dual-core intel CPU. The works. But, I have a little experience with OSX, but not much. So, she's got the Messenger for Mac 7 thing installed on it. And it works. But, she can't use her iSight. And she'd like to. So here's what we're looking for: A program, for the mac, allowing the user to log onto their MSN account and have IM chats (Just like Live Messenger). But we'd like to use the iSight as just another Webcam. What has to be done? What can be done? All help appreciated, thanks in advance.

Can't use the camera? Meaning the program doesn't support it or she doesn't know how to set it up?
For video chat, I recommend tokbox.com. It's all done on that site, and it's super easy and painless. No setup is required; you only need an account. It even logs me in automatically even though I delete cookies and everything; I guess it recognizes my computer somehow.

I'm not looking for video chat here, I'm looking for an instant messenger with webcam (iSight) support. OR at aleast a way to make the OSX version of Windows Live Messenger support, and use the iSight.

I find that a lot of programs that focus on the whole video chat side of things really start to fail in the IM area. For example. All the little things I can get on Live messenger (like the custom emotes etc.) would be nice but wouldn't be found in a program that focuses on video chat. A lot of the people in my area are on dialup. So if you had to start a video chat to communicate. The purpose is defeated. Because it won't work.
*edit* We just wanna get the iSight up and running, preferably with MSN. I wouldn't think it's all too hard, but who knows..

Well honestly, I don't use MSN messenger, but this:
http://www.microsoft.com/Mac/product...r/default.mspx says you can use the mac version to video chat. Maybe you have to open up a port or something? Tell her to check the help topics; they're usually helpful in OSX.

It looks like you will have to sign up for a corporate account when you first set it up. On my mac I have Messenger 7, I had to sign up for a corporate account just to use the built in isight on my macbook.
