Not at all trying to flame, but couldn't you do the same thing on a Linux-based PC? Or am I way off here; I know little about linux.

You could. But it's dirtier on Linux. OSX has the ability like built in seamlessly. You cant destoy your computer with the terminal unless you really tried to.

Speaking as someone who programs C++ for a living, Macs make a pretty nice working environment. There are a few quirks when it comes to porting Linux code to the BSDish Mac OS X environment though.
