Great. 10.6 killed my ability to print from our Mac's.
Lots of (heated) discussion about this on the mac forums, I've tried most posted solutions without success. Need some time to try stripping out all 10.6 drivers and installing 10.5 versions.. http://discussions.apple.com/thread....readID=2132253 ..a

OK, got my MacBook working, will try same on my wife's mini in the AM.
Basically, removed the printer, installed the full driver package from Apple's site, then re-added the printer. It appears to be fine now - just printed a pretty complex job (16-page color booklet layout from Acrobat..) ..a

HP Laserjet 4L? It's a really, really old printer from 1993, I think, but it has always been well-supported.

My friend had this happen to her. It depends on what model you have. Some models you can simply uninstalll and reinstall while others are more complex and make you search for drivers.

Works with the HP Laserjet 4L - no changes necessary.

Had to help a friend out today - she'd bought a MacBook but couldn't get her Canon MX310 working on 10.5.8. I had to download and install a driver package from Canon, but then it worked. Not quite what I was expecting - I would have thought the driver would have come down from Apple automatically like all my HP drivers did..

For any UNIX-based OS, I'd recommend using CUPS to configure printers. I feel like there's much more control in CUPS over what goes on. I think my printer's driver shows up in CUPS, but not in the System Preference's setup dialog.
