So i tried to use magnique to change my theme around a bit and after hitting the restart finder button my whole OS is gone crazy lol. Im a tiny bit concerned but if I cant figure it out i should be able to jump back on my time machine backups.

But anyone know why magnifique would cause this? anything i open crashes.

The rule of thumb i've been seeing at work is you need to do a fresh install of snow leopard. Everybody I know that did an upgrade has had problems. I'm the only one that did a fresh install. I havn't had any problems. Although I've only used it for about 5 hours total since it came out.

There are a lot of apps that you're using like that that don't work properly on Snow Leopard. The reason is because some of the files that are edited with a theme were replaced and moved into new locations.

Same thing goes for the iPhone 3.0 OS. A lot of UIImages changed their locations, so it broke a lot of stuff.

Just try waiting a few more weeks until more devs have updated their apps for Snow Leopard. It's still a very new OS.

By normal you mean all default settings right?

You can always uninstall the Magnifique app using AppZapper and go into your Library folder and look for the themes Magnifique left behind. If you use AppZapper it not only uninstalls the application but it also finds all traces of files related to that application as well.

Since you don't seem interested in reformatting, you'll just have to wait for Apple to patch things up for Snow Leopard.

You may find it hard to fix this without Time Machine due to the fact that Magnifique themes usually have a custom script that alters specific UI elements and system files.

Unless you feel like tracking down all the alterations made by the script its better to go with T.M.

The only other way would be try Uninstalling the theme from within Magnifique, unless thats unreachable with the crashing.
