Default Mac Finder/Network problem

I have a small home network consisting of WRT310N, Vista x64 PC and a MacBook Pro late 2008.

I have a small problem in Finder/Network of not showing Vista PC. This is not the issue even though I would love to fix that, too. The problem is, when I connect to the Vista PC by using Finder/Connect to Sever the Vista PC will show up allowing me to connect to a shared resource. After selecting, the share will show up in the Finder and all is fine. But when I eject the share the Vista PC will no longer be available in the Finder. Now, if I choose to mount more than 1 drive from the Vista PC and eject just one of the drives the Vista PC will remain in the Finder. This is very strange behavior and need to a fix.

When working on a network at my business everything on my MacBook is fine and the Finder will immediately show all computers on the network without a problem. At work the network is a mix of OS X, XP and Vista. All settings are identical at home and at work. There must be something I'm missing. My only solution is to dump all the PCs That's not realistic at the moment.

I'm running 10.6.1

Thanks

I think it has something to do with having what Windows calls a "master browser" (iirc) on your network, and Vista no longer using that service by default.

I had all my Windows systems and, more importantly, my WD 1TB NAS box, vanish from my Mac's Network view when my Domain Server (Windows 2003) shut down. I could map to drives on systems that were on, but could not see them in finder. Once I realized my server was dead, and powered it back up, everything appeared again.

So it's a Windows issue, not OS X..
