Default Help with Password on Mac!

Quote:
It would help if I had been on Facebook instead of trying to fix my iPod. Which I broke. So I had to reset it to factory standards.
Except I can't do that cause when I got my Mac fixed they never gave me the new system password so I can't change anything or even load new software. They'll fix it for a hundred dollars and hour. D: ***.
A friend ran into a little problem.

Any idea on a simple fix? I know with a windows based Pc you can just get into safe mode and just clear the administrative password. Anything similar to doing this for a mac?

Boot the Mac with your Install disk, then click Next but dont' reinstall.

At the top, click Utilities, then Reset Password.

If you don't have a Install/Restore disk, then I'm afraid I don't know of any other method.

But that method listed above works well.

All you need to do is put the disk in the Mac, then reboot and press and hold C, and it'll boot into the disk.

Yes, that's how you boot the disk. Put the disk in the Mac at boot then hold C. If it doesn't load at first, then reboot it with it in the Mac and then hold C the moment it reboots and continue holding it until you see the Apple logo.

Once it's booted into the disk, it'll say Install Mac OS X, click Next, and eventually in a few prompts at the top you'll see Utilities.

From that menu just click Reset Password and make it something else.

Then quit and reboot the machine.
