Default Is it just me or does Safari suffer in flash performance?

Compared to Firefox my Safari web browser seems to crash often whenever I watch any flash videos. Also I've noticed that the emoticons and avatar seem to animate slower in Safari than Firefox as well.

I read a review about the new changes Safari 4 was supposed to bring .One of changes was that if you're watching a flash video and the flash plug-in decides to crash then only that tab will and not the whole browser. Is this true for anybody?

My guess would be Apple dislikes Flash due to their own Quicktime. But for them to "sabotage" flash is very unprofessional so it is unlikely what I said.

Quicktime ≈ Flash?

Safari just crashes all the time for me, so I can't really say whether it happens because of Flash.

Adobe's flash plugin is poorly written for OS X. It's the same in any Mac browser, unfortunately. I luckily haven't had flash crash yet, but from what I've heard it won't even close the tab, just all the flash animations. A quick refresh should reload everything.

+1.

Flash on OS X is awful. I almost want to boot into Boot Camp with Windows 7 just to get nice Flash support.

It's completely horrible on OS X. If watching a video on YouTube and I pause it, sometimes I have to refresh because I can no longer click play or have any interaction with the Flash player what-so-ever.

I really hate Flash all together on OS X. It's just crap to be honest.

Huh. Strange. I use YouTube a lot, and my MacBook almost exclusively, and have had no issues. Same for my wife, who is using a Mac Mini - as well as YouTube, she watches tons of videos from news sites, etc.

edit: sorry, we use Firefox, not Safari.

I've don't use Firefox, but the few times I've tried it I didn't notice any difference. What I can tell you though is that Adobe has always left Mac OS Flash on the side lines. It's always been a dog and will always be one.

What to know something else? M$ Silverlight completely crushes flash as far as performance goes in my Macs. Ain't that something.
